Vegan Pudding Company Arrives at Brentwood Farmers Market

Looking to treat your sweet tooth to something less artificial?

A pudding snack made with organic fruits and veggies that's free of gluten, dairy, nuts and soy with no sugar added lands at the Brentwood Farmers Market this Sunday.

Los Angeles resident David Czinn recently started a vegan pudding company called Fruigees. Unlike most puddings or fruit snacks, Fruigees are made out of organic fruits and vegetables, containing no added sugar or anything artificial.

Czinn said that although he and his cousin Josh Kahn grew up thousands of miles apart they remained close friends and were raised within a family of doctors who emphasized the importance of eating healthy. 

Czinn went into the world of business and worked at a top finance firm, while Kahn studied organizational psychology and spent a number of years working to reform business practices in education. 

Despite their many successes, Czinn said they both recognized their true passions were elsewhere. Now both living in L.A., their fervor for fine foods had them traveling as far as China to experience exotic cuisines. It was only natural that Czinn and Kahn's next step forward was one both delicious and nutritious as they incorporated a tradition of health with their love of all things food.
However, it wasn’t until they tasted a friend’s unique dish, a mix of avocado and chocolate, did true inspiration strike, Czinn noted. The quest to make vegetables a part of dessert began and so too did Fruigees.

Seven months and countless experiments later in their grandparent’s kitchen, the two created the Fruigees recipe.  

Currently, their flavors include Grape-Kale, Cherry-Beet and Orange-Carrot.
