Il Piccolo Ritrovo, which first opened in Pacific Palisades, has noticeably taken over the space of the former San Gennaro Cafe in Brentwood Village. At the Palisades location, owners Tarcisio Mosconi and Nando Silvestri came in and did a complete overhaul, including installing a $25,000 wood-burning oven that fires at 1,000 degrees and cooks a pizza pie in 90 seconds.

Ike's Place, a Northern California sandwich chain, could open up in Westwood Village as soon as next month. The eatery serves a long list of quirky-named creations, with vegan and vegetarian-friendly choice.

Shutters:

Steve's Deli, a popular space in Pacific Palisades' village, suddenly closed its doors to the surprise of staff and a local guitarist who played for children every Tuesday night. The owner, Steve Taub, could not comment on the reason for closing up the shop. The space used to be Mort's Deli and the Village Pantry.
