Malibu Hot Yoga Company Opens New Studio In Brentwood

Hot Yoga studio owner Jackie Penta brings her meditative workout set to music to Brentwood.

Aside from sweating profusely, an hour yoga session in a 105 degree studio with 50 percent humidity improves cardiovascular health by forcing the lungs to work harder.

"Everybody benefits in some way,” said owner Jackie Penta. “Through weight loss, mental relaxation, an increase in flexibility, stretching out sore muscles or pain relief. When you attend a class you must be prepared to sweat.”

Her newest studio, SoCal Hot Yoga offers classes that combine traditional yoga posture practices with a Vinyasa flow set to music. Vinyasa is a style of yoga that links postures together by breaths and continuous movement, according to the website. The high temperature allows for muscles to heat up faster, which helps to safely stretch deeper into postures. It also helps to stay focused on breathing.
