Luxury Theater May Replace Shuttered AMC Avco Theater

The theater on Wilshire and Westwood Boulevard is slated for a multimillion dollar renovation.

After , the old AMC movie theater on Wilshire is slated to undergo a multimillion dollar renovation that will result in a full-service, luxury cinema, TheWrap reports.

The Avco Corp.-owned theater is expected to be operated by Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas, according to The Wrap.

Moviegoers can order food and beverages from the theater's full restaurant and bar before the films begin and during the show by using a call button on the theater's leather seats. The theaters offer traditional movie fare as well as sushi, paninis and dessert.

Tickets cost $19.50 for adults and $17.50 for children and seniors at the Cinepolis-operated theater in San Diego.

Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas, based in Mexico, operates one movie theater in northern San Diego County and another opening soon, and a theater in Laguna Niguel.
