I don't know about you but I have a passion for key lime anything.
When my bartender, Judy, made this martini for me to try, the flavor and the texture were fantastic!
Since then I have been on a quest to find someone who can make it as good. To be honest, I haven't found anyone yet. If you didn't know, Florida is known for Key limes. They are sort of the flamingos of Florida especially in Key West.
A little bit if history about the Key lime tree, which is native to Malaysia, and probably first arrived in the Florida Keys in the 1500s with the Spanish. Key limes look a little like a confused lemon, because they are smaller than a golf ball and are yellow-green with brown spots.
When a hurricane wiped out the Key lime plantations in Florida, they were replaced with perisan limes. These limes are easier to pick and transport than Key limes. Today there are only a few Key lime trees here and there.
Okay, I will give you the long-awaited recipe, and I challenge anyone who thinks they have a better recipe. Please send it to me.
