Westside Weekend Get Out Guide

What have you been aching to do but couldn't because of the cold snap? Finally we've got warmer weather. Get out and play this weekend and share your best pictures!

With 30-degree weather finally behind us for now, don't hesitate: go out and take advantage of the warm Southern California climes before the next winter blast blows in.

Here's a roundup of westside events this weekend:

Pacific Palisades: Tour the four Roman gardens of The Getty Villa Malibu in 40 minutes. The daily tour times (the villa is closed on Tuesdays) are 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Meet at the villa's "tour meeting place" outside the museum entrance. While admission is free, parking during business hours is $15 for each car or motorcycle. Location: 17985 Pacific Coast Hwy.

Venice: Photographer Ansel Adams’ “Portfolio Four: What Majestic Word” opens with a reception on Saturday at The G2 Gallery. The exhibit features 15 original silver gelatin prints, including Vernal Falls in Yosemite and Mt. McKinley National Park.

The gallery, located at 1503 Abbot Kinney Blvd., is holding a reception from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes live music, wine, hors d’oeuvres and free valet parking. RSVP to rsvp@theg2gallery.com

Santa Monica: Poetry Unhinged! and Comedy & Spoken Word: Uncensored! roll out Saturday in the Fireside at the Miles series at The Miles Memorial Playhouse, Reed Park, 1130 Lincoln Blvd.

Billed as containing "(im)mature subject matter," the performances are part of Fireside at the Miles, the annual series of fireside performances featuring local jazz, opera, dance, poetry and more on the weekends running through Jan. 26. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and performances begin at 8 p.m. 

Tickets: $10 for adults, $5 for students, seniors and kids 17 or under. Parking is free in the Miles parking structure across from the park (mention "Miles" for validation). For reservations and information, call 310-458-8634 or email milesplayhouse@smgov.net.

Marina del Rey: The R&B group Blue Breeze performs at the Fisherman's Village Weekend Concert Saturday and the country group Jimi Nelson & The Drifting Cowboys on Sunday. The performances run from 1 p.m to 4 p.m.

The free concerts are held outdoors in the plaza near the lighthouse, 13723 Fiji Way, in Fisherman's Village, every Saturday and Sunday, if weather permits.
