I'll occassionally snap some creative photos in travels around Brentwood and will post them to the Patch site and social media for you to see. I took a hike Sunday to San Vicente Mountain and walked around the NIKE Missile Control Site. At 1,950 feet above sea level, soldiers had vision in all directions on the observation deck, including seeing downtown Los Angeles 15 miles away. Venice Beach is 10 miles away.
Did you know that back during the Cold War, the site was manned all the time watching for an attack on L.A. Nike missiles were ready to launch?
