Getty Center Welcomes 20 Millionth Visitor

The Brentwood museum overlooking the Sepulveda Pass also marks its 15 anniversary in 2013.

The Getty Center reached a milestone Saturday, April 13 when the 20 millionth visitor passed through the center's famed galleries.

Since admission to the center is free and there are no gates to pass through, museum officials said they weren't able to determine exactly who the historic visitor was, so they passed out commemorative cookies to everyone.

“We’re delighted that 20 million people, from all over the world, have come to experience the collections at the museum and the Getty Research Institute, the GRI's vast art and architecture library and archives, and the Getty’s incomparable buildings and grounds,” said Getty President and CEO Jim Cuno.
