Jesse Kellerman at Diesel Bookstore
Diesel, A Bookstore in Brentwood welcomes acclaimed author Jesse Kellerman to the store to celebrate the publication of his new novel, Potboiler, on Thursday, July 12th at 7pm.
The protagonist of Potboiler, Arthur Pfefferkorn, is a has-been, or perhaps a never-was: a middle-aged professor with long-dead literary aspirations. When his oldest friend, the writer William de Vallee, is lost at sea, Pfefferkorn is torn between envy and grief: de Vallee not only outshone him professionally, but married the woman Pfefferkorn loved. Pfefferkorn's decision to reconnect with his friend's widow sets in motion a surreal chain of events, plunging him into a shadowy realm of double crosses and intrigue.
Jesse Kellerman was born in Los Angeles in 1978. He has published four novels: The Executor, The Genius, Trouble, and Sunstroke. He holds an MFA in theater, and has won several awards for his writing, including the Princess Grace Award, given to America's most promising young playwright. He lives with his wife and son in La Jolla.
