What's Up in One of the Fun-ner Parts of LA?

Check out these five fun things to do with the family.

Weekend family fun is synonymous with Brentwood. Anyone who lives here knows that. However, even the most experienced Brentwoodian may need the occasional reminder as to the fun-ner things to do here in the best little part of LA.

  • The library is open on Saturday and is a great place to sit quietly and read an excellent selection of books. Good video and DVD section upstairs. The librarians are very helpful and nice to boot. The children’s section has puffy cushions to sit on and x-large fluffy animals to play with, too.
  • Jenny Bec’s Toy Store: Yes, it’s a toy store so you have to pay for things but browsing is free. They have some fun stuff for the kids to play with while you are looking, and are very tolerant of hanging out. Also, they have 25 cent gummy hamburgers at the counter which just the thought of turns any child into an obedient yes-sayer.
  • The muffins are to die for, the sandwiches are priced right and the red eye coffee drink is a kick in the pants. Kids are super welcome here as they cater to the girls in the neighborhood at the private school Archer Schools for Girls on Sunset.
  • Kay and Dave’s restaurant:  Tex-Mex food without the super spiciness makes this a great place to bring the family. Come at 5pm – 7pm and see why this is the destination for all families in the neighborhood and then some. Families are made to feel at home here and the noise factor of the kiddies doesn’t keep the regulars away either.
  • Located on Barrington just south of Sunset Blvd. The park is small but fun and located outside the recreation center. It is sandwiched between the tennis courts and the basketball courts on the west side of the street. Ample parking.
