Watch: Rediscovered 1935 Home Movie Passover Seder New York City

This public domain home movie looks a lot like my family's seder.

This rediscovered home movie from 1935 depicts an Orthodox family's Passover seder in New York.

Except for zaydeh (grandpa) donning a kittel (a white robe worn on holy occasions), this family performs the same symbolic rituals you'll perform at your Brentwood seder Monday evening.

The mandatory four cups of wine, the spilled wine marking the reading of the Ten Plagues, the matzoh sandwich, the greens in salt water–they're all here.

We added a public domain version of the traditional song Dayenu under the silent footage.

Incredibly, the final title screen says this home movie was shot on special Fotoshop Film.
