Parking Structure in Century City Collapses

A Personal Message from Doug Kriegel

I will be leaving Sherman Oaks Patch, it's been a terrific experience.

It's been my pleasure  to be the Editor at Sherman Oaks Patch. We hope you're enjoying the site, and finding it to be relevant and informative.

We track neighborhood news, stories that the larger media often don't cover. This is a business that has not been tried before on the scale that Patch is doing it. More than 800 neighborhood news sites have been launched across the country.

After a year and a half, I'm leaving my position to devote myself to individual stories and videos, in other communities around Southern California. It's been a  challenge and a lot of fun trying to keep up with what's happening in Sherman Oaks.

We covered stories on potholes, pizza, and the police. Lots more. Don't forget the woman who wants to raise chickens in her back yard. And of course, we tried to answer the question: where do you find the best Mexican food in town.

There's a reason why Sherman Oaks has not lost its cozy village atmosphere, people here have been vigilant to maintain a certain "neighborhood feel" to the community.

Residents have fought hard, on a regular basis, to preserve that local quality.

There are still lots of good stories to be told and Patch will be here to tell them.

If you want to reach me, I'll be at DougKriegel@yahoo.com

Hi Doug - You gave me my frist opportunity to write a column vs. a blog. I can't thank you enough for without you my audience would not be as large as it is today! Both you and Judy LaVally taught me so much. You will be missed but I know we'll work together again! All the best in your next endeavor. Xxo

Doug: You are a real friend and you will be missed. It will be difficult for AOL to find someone with your integrity and work ethic to fill your very big shoes. Sherman Oaks, Encino and the rest of the Valley needs your insight. The Valley is at a critical crossroad both fiscally as well as spiritually and we sourly need your intelligent insight. Best of luck to you. Please don't be a stranger. Sean McCarthy

Hi' are you the same Doug who went to Camp Yuikon in Maine in 1952? I think you may have had an older brother who rescued me out on the lake when I lost my oars.. Aaron DeRoy aaronderoy@gmail.com
