Brentwood Photographer Captures Obama Visit

Protesters lined the blocks near 26th Street and San Vicente Boulevard during the president's visit, specifically for fracking, drones, anti-deportation and the Keystone Pipeline.

President Barack Obama's presence was felt last Friday in the Brentwood and Santa Monica neighborhoods near 26th Street and San Vicente Boulevard as he visited the home of Peter Chernin at a luncheon fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.

Brentwood resident and photographer Mathew Tekulsky was on hand with his camera, along with dozens of protesters.

There were anti-deportation protesters, and President Obama was diverted from this Brentwood intersection. The house where the president was getting $10,000 to $32,400 per person at a fundraiser was three blocks away. The protesters shut down the intersection in the trendiest part of Brentwood for a couple of hours. According to Tekulsky, the police were very polite, but the protesters eventually were asked to disperse.

There were also protests in the area against drones, fracking and the Keystone Pipeline. These demonstrations were staged near the Latino anti-deportation protests, according to Tekulsky.
