Library Event Features Stories and Crafts

Kids heard Mexican follk stories and made piñatas at the Donald Bruce Kaufman-Brentwood Branch Library summer reading club.

The Bruce Kaufman-Brentwood Branch Library kicked off its Summer Reading Club with Mexican folk stories, crafts and piñatas Wednesday. The event's Mexican  theme complements the overall theme of the library's summer reading program, “One World, Many Stories.”

Children's librarian Maria Rodriguez read “Rubia and the Three Osos” and “Manana Iguana” aloud and then helped the young attendees make a piñata out of a lunch bag, colored streamers and a piece of string.

“I like to color. It’s fun,” said Charlotte George, 4, as she colored a face on her piñata.
