It's Bike to Work Day Thursday

Metro is encouraging folks to ride their bicycles to work Thursday with pit stops throughout the city.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) has been celebrating Bike Week all week, with a blessing of the bicycles at Good Samaritan Hospital and other smaller events. But Thursday is the big day - Bike to Work Day.

Area residents are encouraged to ride their bikes to work. The agency and participating companies and groups are sponsoring pit stops around the area, including stops at UCLA and throughout Santa Monica. You can click here for a map of pit stop sites. Snacks and biking information and maps will be available.

Residents can also register their pledge to cycle to work on Thursday at the Metro Bike Week site and enter for a chance to win prizes.
