The National Weather service says damaging winds will hit the Los Angeles area Friday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Los Angeles and Ventura counties from 3 a.m. Friday through 3 p.m. Saturday.

The areas that will likely see the strongest winds will be "below northeast facing passes and canyons," according to the warning. The National Weather Service says gusty winds will also hit the LA County coastal areas below the Santa Monica Mountain Range, parts of San Fernando Valley and the Ventura County coast.

Wind speeds up to 40 miles per hour are expected through the passes and canyons, according to the warning. Gusts could reach up to 60 miles per hour.
