5 Things: Former L.A. Mayor Riordan to Host Fundraiser

Five things about Brentwood: Richard Riordan hosts a fundraiser at his Brentwood home Tuesday night; Free coffee on Friday; Pregnant moms workshop; Readers Choice nominations due; Writing workshops for kids.

  1. at the Brentwood home of former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. The event is being held to help raise funds for Safe4Athletes, a not-for-profit organization that advocates for the safety of athletes from sexual abuse, bullying and harassment. The event begins at 6:30 p.m., but tickets can be purchased up until midnight. Patch will be attending the event, so keep a lookout for the coming story.

  2. Expecting a child? at 6:30 p.m. The class will cover how to avoid pain during delivery, pregnancy workout techniques and healthy eating. Dinner, dessert and other refreshments will be provided and each attendee will receive a goody bag and be entered into a drawing to win giveaways like a jogging stroller and car seat.  

  3. by giving you free coffee. Stop on in at any of Cafe Luxxe's three locations between 12-2 p.m. for your free java:

        •    Brentwood Country Mart - 225 26th St
        •    Santa Monica - 925 Montana Ave

  4. . We're giving out awards in 25 different categories and need your help in recognizing the businesses that make Brentwood great. Add a comment here or on the respective nomination page to let us know who should be in the running for when voting starts on July 23.

  5. . Geared toward 8- to 12-year-olds, the workshops run each Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-5p.m. and cost $150.
