Room For Hope
To enrich participants’ experience of Palestinian culture, Room for Hope incorporates multiple educational forms: dance performances, film screenings and a concert which will captivate the audience at night, while seminars, presentations and panels on the arts and entrepreneurial development will be held during the day. Participants include 2011 Gold Medal Independent Publisher Book Award winner poet Nathalie Handal, internationally renowned screenwriter Linda Seger and Director of Development for AirPR, Rebekah Iliff. Rev. Mitri Raheb, President of Bright Stars of Bethlehem, NFP US and the Diyar Consortium in Bethlehem, Palestine will be giving the keynote for the event.
The dance performance features the Diyar Dance Theatre, a co-ed youth dance troupe comprised of talented and enthusiastic volunteers from Bethlehem. With a strong commitment to the mission of reviving and empowering the cultural identity of young Palestinians, the dance troupe acts not only as a Palestinian cultural ambassador to the world but also a symbol of hope to the youth living in occupation in the Holy Land. The troupe has performed in venues across the U.S. and around the world since its inception.
Bright Stars of Bethlehem is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 that aims at promoting peace and harmony in the Middle East by providing Palestinians support through health, education, cultural and spiritual development. Its mission is to partner in growing hope in Palestine by connecting people in the United States through awareness-raising and fund-raising. The vision of Bright Stars of Bethlehem is that Christianity will survive and thrive in Bethlehem and the West Bank.
