Dane Elkins, Pali High Freshman, wins 3 national/world racquetball tittles over the summer

While many students over the summer were at the beach, getting together with family and friends and/or vacationing around the country, Dane Elkins a 14-year old student from Palisades High School who lives in Brentwood Ca. was competing in racquetball and winning three national and junior world sports championships.

Dane and his family travelled to Des Moines, Iowa courtesy to a CNRA (CA/Nev Racquetball Association) junior racquetball scholarship to participate in the biggest indoor racquetball event for USA indoor players.

At Jr Olympics (Nationals), he played in two age divisions in singles and ended up being the surprise winner of the gold in the older 16 year old and under singles red division.

Next, Dane played at the World Outdoor Racquetball Wor's 45th Oudoor World Championships in Huntington Beach.

At the World Outdoor Championships, Dane won 2 gold medals at this event in his age group-his 10th junior world outdoor championship title in the past four years.

Dane and his younger brother Cody-age 8  were  also named to the 2013/2014 World Outdoor Racquetball national team as the world's highest ranked juniors for their ages.

Dane plays for Team Ektelon's  junior pro development team or "Team X"  and recently won the IRT Pro Tour/USAR racquetball  Scholarship at the USOC Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs

Ironically, Dane's true goal is not to become the world's number one pro ranked racquetball player or even to one day play on the pro tour. His lifelong dream is to be an orthopedic surgeon -where he feels he can help other athletes benefit from his racquetball  experience.

Besides carrying a bevy of racquets with him to most tournaments, this scholar athlete also carries a 3.97 GPA in his school's highly gifted program.
