SANTA MONICA, CA— Continuing to make major headway, today Torie Osborn captured an endorsement from the influential and wildly popular progressive Congressman Barney Frank.

He served as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee from 2007-2011, and is still the committee’s ranking Democrat.
“I have worked with Torie Osborn for much of my time in Washington on behalf of the LGBT community and on other progressive issues of concern to us both. Based on her proven record I'm happy to endorse her and know she'll be an effective advocate in the State Assembly,” said Congressman Frank.
Osborn, a community non-profit leader and government reformer, is running a powerful campaign for the new, open 50th Assembly District. “I am incredibly grateful to have received this important and prestigious endorsement from a national icon like Congressman Barney Frank,” said Osborn. “His support provides another tremendous boost to my campaign. If elected, I plan on carrying on California’s proud tradition of developing innovative, groundbreaking and forward-looking public policy that will help get our state back on track to fiscal solvency and economic prosperity.”
Congressman Frank and Osborn met in 1993 when Osborn was Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and worked together during the Clinton years, a formative time for the visibility and growth of the LGBT movement They also share a strong commitment to economic justice: "Along with his rapier wit that regularly levels the Right, the quality I most admire in Congressman Frank is his unwavering dedication to economic justice as fundamental to the American way.”
