27 Firefighters Free Stranded Tree Trimmer

A tequila-toting tree trimmer who was stuck for nearly two hours Monday evening in a large Eucalyptus tree on a hillside behind a home in Brentwood was safely freed and taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

The man was freed by 27 firefighters who used 35-foot ladders and ropes and harnesses. The rescue proved difficult because of the challenge of putting ladders up on the hillside, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The tree trimmer's plight was reported at 5:40 p.m. at 11808 W. Kearsarge St., two blocks south of Sunset Boulevard, Scott said.

The worker reportedly had a half-full bottle of tequila on him when he was rescued, according to a fire department official on scene.

According to NBC, the man's name was not released and it's unclear how he got stuck in the tree. About an hour after the work crew packed up and left, the homeowner’s gardener noticed there was someone in their Eucalyptus tree.
